Week 9: October 25, 2025

This week and next are the closest to Halloween so often you get some uni-costumes, but not much this weekend.

Oregon went for its long-teased Grateful Dead tribute in black and tie-dye.

There were several dark vs light matchups with Minnesota in its mono-white with gopher helmet against an all-black Iowa. Michigan went mostly all white vs. MSU in its all green. Rutgers and Purdue wore complimentary black and gold. Five teams on the road when mono white below the neck.

Week 8: October 17-18, 2025

Throwbacks are popping up for various homecoming games:

Northwestern sported a "fauxback" that remembers the 1995 season and 1996 Rose Bowl team. But honestly the only thing that recreates that uniform is the black jersey used in Rose Bowl and retro N with wildcat head. The rest would seem to be a a melange of 1990s Northwestern graphic looks like a rad number font and cool Wildcats brushstroke! If they wanted to really throwback they'd wear purple pants and purple helmet like they did 5 years ago.

A video explaining the black jersey:

UCLA brought back its annual powder blue 1960s throwback which is way more of a real throwback.

Michigan State reprised its white helmet with retro "Gruff" decal.

Week 7: October 10-11, 2025

A few special uniforms this week:

  • Washington—on Friday night against all-white Rutgers—wore their all-black ensemble, which seems pretty similar to their "Eclipse/World of Warcraft" special from last season's Friday night blackout. Some call it the Adidas "Strategy" uniform.
  • Wisconsin threw it back to the 1990s-ish—could you tell? Oh yeah the W is old-school and they added a retro badger logo on sleeves, but not much else is different.
  • Penn State played in one of the versions of their "Generation of Greatness" set. Unfortunate timing after 2 weeks of non-greatness. And to be honest it is so similar to their normal set except for white collar, slightly different font, helmet number, pant stripes, and too-small retro lion logo.
  • Minnesota pulled out their throwback helmet.
  • Oregon opted for an uncommon (if you'd believe it) green and black combo of "normal" parts.
  • Illinois went full pumpkin orange mono!

Week 6: October 4, 2025

A pretty normal weekend especially since Oregon was off.

Minnesota, Wisconsin and Penn State all went completely mono-white and Michigan went mono blue.

In a nice synergy, all the teams that wear white helmets wore white pants and all the teams that wear metallic helmets had matching pants. And the only team to not match their helmet to their pants was Illinois

In an unusual move UW—on the road at Maryland—wore a rare gold/white/gold combo (looking more like UCLA) for a first time since the 1990s. It apparently is a move to remember the 1982 Aloha Bowl victory over Maryland, which was the only previous game between these two.
